Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York (D) signed a law to legalize marijuana just hours after lawmakers sent it to his desk. Some provisions, including legalization of possession, took effect immediately.
New Mexico legislature sent bills to legalize marijuana and overturn cannabis convictions to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s (D) desk, who has pledged to legally sign them.
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) officially proposed that legalizing marijuana ownership and home growing become legal on July 1 instead of 2024, including changes to a cannabis law on his desk. Legislators will review these and other changes in a brief meeting next week.
