Steep Hill Illinois is led by a team of seasoned, trusted cannabis industry veterans along with successful entrepreneurs, strategists and investors.
Co-founder Nick Etten drives strategy and business development as well as government and regulatory issues. Etten, a native of Illinois, is a nationally recognized cannabis industry veteran with several years of experience in the industry. Most recently, he served on the Executive Leadership Team of Acreage Holdings, a multistate cannabis operator (MSO), where he led government affairs, policy and strategy as SVP for foreign affairs. Etten also founded the Veterans Cannabis Project, which is focused on changing the discussion about veterans’ access to medical cannabis.
Co-founder John Tinsley will drive strategy with Etten, focusing on business operations, partner relationships, the introduction of the laboratory in Illinois and growth in other markets. Tinsley comes into the business after two decades in consulting, where he was most recently a partner at EY-Parthenon, a global strategy consultancy. His expertise in growth strategy, market development, mergers and acquisitions, and operational transformation will be critical to a successful launch in Illinois.
Co-founder Matt Grabowski will lead the finance and non-laboratory area. Matt has successfully set up multiple fitness, health, and waste management companies nationally. His experience in business building, transactions, and financial structuring will be invaluable in scaling operations.
Steep Hill Illinois will be available in 2022 to support laboratory and other manufacturing activities. “We are currently expanding the laboratory, which will be strategically located in Ottawa, Illinois, within a 90-minute drive of the largest MSOs in Illinois,” said Tinsley called. Use the steep hill Platform will provide Steep Hill Illinois with the full screen of Illinois regulated testing, including cannabinoids, pesticides, heavy metals, and more.
